About us
Looking for an interesting smaller project during later retirement years, my granddaughter approved my beginning a company to share our tradition of giving promises at Christmas with Promise Pig. She said, “Do it!” So, I embarked on a new journey which included obtaining a patent, designing our products, developing the brand, learning technology, and developing a strategy to make it happen.
The company is small, but the idea is big because it is an opportunity for everyone to become closer to family and friends by sharing in a fun meaningful way.
The Story
A Promise Pig tradition began as a fun, new element when our family was transferred away from close-knit kin who enjoyed celebrating holidays together. Each child was given their own Christmas Promise Pig tree ornament. The pig had a pocket to deliver a promise on Christmas morning which would be granted during the next calendar year.
After all gift boxes were opened, the children retrieved their pig and read their promise. Transplanted from the Midwest to the east coast, the promise to see Snow White at Radio City Music Hall was an exciting first promise.
The next Christmas, the children wanted Promise Pig to deliver again. A tradition began which continued until the children left home. Our daughter continued the Promise Pig tradition with her children. Her children kept their yearly promises in little boxes!
Her son continues the Promise Pig tradition with his children! During the most recent Christmas celebration, when Promise Pig made the traditional delivery to his children, Promise Pig also made a surprise one-time delivery to his mother! The tradition is open-ended with limitless variations.
Promise Pig is a dedicated messenger. After forty plus years, he still serves faithfully.
Through decades of giving promises, a few principles have been helpful: Promises are best formulated where interests, opportunity, and people intersect. Don’t believe the gift must be big to be appreciated. Don’t endeavor to make each promise larger than the last.
